Lactobacillus Plantarum LP LDL ® is a probiotic which lowers both your cholesterol and blood pressure and supports your cardiovascular health.

LP LDL ® offers a science-backed and clinically tested approach to lowering your cholesterol and systolic blood pressure levels.

LP LDL ® consists of living bacteria, a so-called probiotic, that enrich your intestinal flora.

“Probiotics are living organisms that, when dosed in sufficient quantities, provide a health benefit to the user”
WHO/FAO, 2021

The LP LDL ® bacteria have a special property: they break down bile salts in the intestine. These bile salts have an important function - they make fats present in our intestinal contents soluble in water and therefore easier to absorb through the intestinal wall into the blood.

Breaking down bile salts has 3 important consequences:

  • Less fats are absorbed from food
  • A shortage of bile salt occurs, which is replenished by the liver by extracting ApoB and cholesterol from the blood
  • The ApoB and cholesterol levels in your blood quickly decrease naturally

Including less fat from food is actually just a nice side effect. The main thing is to replenish the bile salt deficiency. This is done by the liver. The liver acts like a large filter for the blood. The liver has many functions and, among other things, filters important building blocks for the production of bile salts from the blood and then produces them.

Important building blocks for bile salt are ApoB – an important protein that transports all fats (such as cholesterol and triglycerides) through our body to all cells and tissues – and cholesterol itself – and especially the so-called “bad” cholesterol or LDL.

The construction activity of the liver thus removes ApoB and cholesterol from the blood, naturally lowering blood levels . Reducing total cholesterol and especially by lowering LDL cholesterol is particularly good. The reduction of ApoB also ensures that there is less transport capacity for the remaining cholesterol.

“Reducing both LDL cholesterol and blood pressure has a strengthening effect on lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease.”
European Society of Cardiology, August 2016

The mechanism of action of vegan probiotics LP LDL ® has been extensively researched and carefully documented

  1. Bile salts are synthesized in the liver from cholesterol.
  2. The bile salts are stored in the bile. As soon as food is detected, the bile salts enter the small intestine to improve the absorption of fats from food in particular.
  3. After work, around 90% of the bile salts are recycled again and stored in the gallbladder.
  4. LP LDL ® disrupts this cycle by breaking down bile salts, which leads to a decrease in the reabsorption of bile salts through the intestinal wall into the blood.
  5. This forces the liver to remove more building blocks such as ApoB and cholesterol from the bloodstream to replenish the bile salt deficiency.
  6. This reduces the cholesterol level in the blood.
  7. The reduction of cholesterol in the bloodstream then helps to lower blood pressure.

LP LDL® reduces ApoB and cholesterol levels in the blood within 12 weeks

Various studies show that within 12 weeks:

  1. LP LDL® reduces total cholesterol levels by up to 34.6%
  2. LP LDL® reduces LDL cholesterol by up to 28.4%
  3. LP LDL® reduces ApoB by up to 28.6%

Read here in detail about the various extensive studies that have been done into the effect of LP LDL.

Research shows that the effect decreases quickly if you stop taking LP LDL ®. To maintain the population of LP LDL® bacteria in the intestines and thus maintain proper functioning, it is important that you continue to take sufficient LP LDL® every day .

LP LDL® : Scientific studies

Study 1: Safety and Efficacy of LP LDL® (CholBiome) in Normal to Mildly Hypercholesterolemic Adults by University of Reading, United Kingdom

A 12-week, independent, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled human intervention in 49 adults using 4×10 9 CFU encapsulated LP LDL ® or placebo.

The results are based on 12 weeks of LP LDL ® consumption versus placebo.

LP LDL® appeared to be completely safe and well tolerated.

The results of the study were found to be statistically significant in improving multiple biomarkers of cardiovascular disease risk.

LPLDL®:

  1. Lowers total cholesterol levels by up to 36.7%
  2. Lowers LDL cholesterol by up to 13.9%
  3. Increases HDL cholesterol by up to 4.5%
  4. Lowers systolic blood pressure by 5.1%

Study 2: The cholesterol-lowering efficacy of Lactobacillus plantarum ECGC 13110402 LPLDL® (as CholBiome) in adults with hypercholesterolemia by the University of Roehampton, United Kingdom

A 9-week, independent, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled human intervention study in 16 adults using 4×10 9 CFU encapsulated LP LDL® or placebo.

The results are based on 6 weeks of consumption of LP LDL® versus placebo on a daily basis, followed by a 3-week washout period.

LP LDL ® was found to be completely safe, well tolerated and showed statistically significant reductions in multiple biomarkers of cardiovascular disease risk within 6 weeks.
